The Blue & Green Corridors Project will use natural systems to manage water and reduce flooding by:
Creating a network of canals – Blue Corridors – in wide neutral grounds that will also serve as neighborhood parks.
Creating a network of Green Corridors in smaller neutral grounds, where trees, plants, and sidewalks allow water to seep slowly into the ground.
The project will:
Help transform the Gentilly area into a viable neighborhood
Reduce neighborhood flooding with canals and greens infrastructure.
Create parks, recreation and public art opportunities for neighborhood health and fun.
Turn major streets into Complete Streets that support safe biking and walking.
Attract economic development opportunities.
